Corpus Christi Driver Dies in Single Vehicle Car Wreck
A 22-year-old woman is dead after her car hit a pole, rolled over and caught fire near Leopard Street on Saturday afternoon.
Corpus Christi police senior officer Travis Pace, a spokesman for the department, said the crash occurred at 1:20 p.m. on the 2400 block of Leopard Street near north Port Avenue.
Pace said officers were called to the scene of the accident when they discovered a Nissan 4-door passenger car flipped over near a fallen electric pole and on fire.
When officers approached the vehicle, they discovered a woman was dead on scene.
The Nueces County Medical Examiner identified the woman as 22-year-old Deserey Sanchez.
It is unclear how many people were inside the vehicle, but officials believe Sanchez may have been the only occupant.
Pace said workers were still working on the down power line around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
