Essure is a permanent contraceptive that consists of two metal coils that doctors place inside the fallopian tubes. Conception is prevented by scar tissue that develops in the tube. Essure lawsuits against Bayer typically contend that doctors did not take the health issues arising from using this contraceptive seriously. Also, women claim that Bayer did not do enough to warn them about the potentially harmful side effects of Essure.
