Taxotere Injury Lawyer

Taxotere (docetaxel) is a semisynthetic analogue of taxol (paclitaxel) prescribed primarily to women as part of their chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer. Unfortunately, treatment with Taxotere can result in permanent alopecia, or baldness. Upwards of 10-15% of the women who receive Taxotere suffer permanent hair loss. If you have experienced this side effect after being prescribed Taxotere, you may have grounds to seek compensation for your suffering.  Alex R. Hernandez Jr., our Taxotere lawsuit lawyer can protect your interests and fight to secure a fair settlement on your behalf.

While hair loss appeared in participants during Phase II clinical trials for Taxotere, and manufacturer Sanofi-Aventis self-reported an incidence rate of 9.2% to the EMA in 2005, they did not update the US label until January 2016. Thousands of women who received treatment with this drug are now permanently bald as a result of the manufacturer’s failure to warn. Moreover, there is an alternative treatment in the same drug class with equal efficacy that does not have permanent alopecia as a potential side effect.

Other known side effects of Taxotere include:

  • Bone, muscle, and joint pain
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue and weakness
  • Weight gain/li>
  • Swelling of ankles and abdomen
  • Anemia
  • Diarrhea
  • Low white blood cell count
  • Nausea/li>

No recall has so far been issued for Taxotere, though the legal ramifications are still in the early stages. If you or someone you know has suffered hair loss for longer than 6 months following the completion of Taxotere treatment, we urge you to contact our attorneys and review your legal options today.

The physical and emotional trauma women with breast cancer endure during the process of treatment is immeasurable. Adding on the agony of permanent hair loss or baldness from Taxotere can be unbearable. At Alex R. Hernandez Jr. PLLC, we believe women who have suffered such a terrible experience should be treated fair and just for their troubles. Having recovered on behalf of past clients our personal injury lawyers understand what you are going through and are prepared to go the distance to ensure your rights are protected.
