A train versus truck accident sent an Amory man to the hospital after a train collided with his Lincoln Mark LT truck.

Authorities said the truck, driven by 80-year-old Elder Willis Dobbs, jumped a mound of dirt spread across Old Highway 45, which is now a dead-end road. He drove onto the tracks and apparently blacked out. An oncoming BNSF train saw the truck early enough to slow down, but it couldn’t come to a complete stop in time.
Dobbs, who pastors Free Will Temple Gospel Church, was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus to be checked, and authorities said his condition was fine.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident, and BNSF officials were on the scene.
